Angelica Root is also known as archangelica officinalis, wild celery, root of the Holy Ghost or Angel of Herbs. Archangelica is a Greek word meaning archangel. It is believed that the Archangel Michael appeared in a dream that told of the plants ability to be used in medicines. Through this divine wisdom, angelica was used as an antidote for the plague. Angelica has been cultivated for its culinary and medicinal uses since around the 10th century to modern times.
