White Oak Bark (Quercus alba)
White Oak Bark cut also known as Quercus Alba originated in the United States. The hardwood is a prized furniture wood while its properties are beneficial in food preparation and skin care products. In magic White Oak bark may assist with protection, fertility, removing negative magic, and hex breaking. The Celtic word for Oak is “duir” which is believed to be the source from which the term Druid comes from. Duir also means door, implying that the Oak Tree opens a path to other realms. Because oak trees tend to be taller than other trees, they attract lightning. The Celts associated lightning with the God of Magic, Dagda. Seeing an Oak struck by lightning was akin to having Dadga himself say “Hey Look!” Carry Oak for good fortune.
Witches who work with The Good Folk will find their workings enhanced by using Oak as a portal.
